Allen Mc Means

Allen Mc Means, a native of Oxford, died peacefully at his home in Vanzant, Missouri on the evening of May 19, 2016 after a bout with a recurrent illness. He was 81.

Allen worked for many years with Michigan Bell Telephone. He relished retirement and relocated to the southeastern Missouri countryside where he spent many pleasurable hours “fooling around” with his dogs and his acreage, “tinkering” in his garage and “spinning yarns” with friends and neighbors.

He was the youngest child of Wayne & Gladys Mc Means of Oxford; was predeceased by both his brothers – David Mc Means and Robert Mc Means of Oxford, MI; his sister Elma (Mc Means) Rubright of British Columbia, Canada and, most recently, by his sister Ina (Mc Means) Donnelly of Reading, PA.

Allen leaves his beloved wife Judy (Jarrett-Smith) Mc Means and her daughters Tonya and Tammy and his son, Scott; and five children by former marriages; sons Martin of TN and Brian of Oxford, MI; daughters Rhonda and Katrina of TN and Debra of Lake Orion, MI. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patty (Fitch-Mc Means) Oaks of Oxford, MI; and by nieces Susan McLeland of TX, Diana Smith of MD, Jean Smoker of PA, Anne Gajewski of NC, Cathy Eisenhardt and Connie Mc Means of MI; and by nephews Michael Mc Means and Bruce Mc Means of MI, and their families.

Big in stature and even bigger in spirit, he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
