As usual, Connor Bandel, a 2016 Oxford High School graduate, did exceptionally well in the Division 1 state finals for track and field held June 4 in Hudsonville, just outside Grand Rapids.

The Wildcat powerhouse won both the shot put and discus throw events.

Bandel set a new state record in shot put with a throw that measured 67 feet 5.75 inches.

In the discus throw, Bandel’s distance measured 198 feet 11 inches.

Also doing well at states were fellow 2016 OHS graduates Gabe Hogan and Jacob Lewinski.

Hogan ran the 2-mile race in 9 minutes, 27 seconds and finished in 15th place.

Lewinski, a pole-vaulter, placed ninth with a height of 13 feet 6 inches.
