Baseball team scores wins against Clarkston, Rochester Adams

Oxford’s varsity baseball team went 1-1 against Clarkston May 15.

Oxford won game 1 in the series against Clarkston with a 4-3 score.

Ben Gingell picked up the win going 7 innings striking out 7 hitters and only allowing 2 earned runs.

Seven Wildcat hitters all collected 1 hit, Ben Nuss, Gage Warzecha, Brandon Barrows, Braun Mayette, Evan Brunning, Ben Gingell, Mario Scribner, and Justin Allen.

Oxford dropped game 2 against Clarkston 4-1 that night.

Shae Walters went 5 strong innings striking out 4 hitters while only allowing 1 earned run. Jack Kitchner threw the last 2 innings allow no earned runs.

Nuss, Garrett Tyrrell, and Warzecha had the only hits for the Wildcats that night.

On May 11, the Wildcats varsity baseball team won the series against Rochester Adams, winning game 3 with a score of 8-5.

The offense came to life in the two inning score 7 runs.

The Cats capitalized on errors made by Adams defenders.

The offense was lead by Warzecha 2 for 2 with 2 stolen bases.

Jack Smalley, Gingell, Brunning, Scribner, Garrett Tyrrell, and Anthony D’Alessandro each collected one hit. Scribner picked up while Connor Romine got the save.

On May 10, the Oxford Wildcats baseball team took a 2-0 loss to rival Lake Orion.

Lake Orion capitalized on an error in the first inning, scoring its only 2 runs of the game.

Shae Walters took the loss in the game going all 7 innings only allowing 1 earned run.

Mayette and D’Alessandro had the only hits for the Wildcats.

The team is now 16-11 on the season.

On Wednesday, May 17, Oxford looks to win the series against the Clarkston Wolves, at Clarkston High (6093 Flemings Lake Rd., Clarkston.) at 4:30 p.m.
