It’s been an incredible year for the Wildcats bowling teams and the success kept on coming as 11 bowlers earned Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association (MHSIBCA) post-season honors.

The Wildcats have landed senior Christian Cartner on the first team All-State list and his twin brother, Tanner, was named to the second team.

This is the first time a Wildcat boy bowler has been named to the All-State list, according to Head Coach J.R. Lafnear.

Christian averaged over 213 for the season and finished it the top eight of this years state singles event.

Tanner finished in the top 4 in singles and averaged over 205 for the season.

“I am so proud of the Cartner boys,” said Lafnear. “They have been strong Wildcat bowlers and they deserve to receive these honors.”

The bowling team also received great news on the academic front.

Deanna Staser, Luke Meyer and Tanner Cartner were each awarded All-State Academic awards.

To top that off, the state champion girls team won Academic All-State Team honors. The state champion girls team, which consisted of Staser, Claire Sandstrom, Megan Armbruster, Mya Bruno, Grace Meyer, Jenny Legault and Marissa Smith, earned a team grade-point average of over 3.55 to win the award.

This is the first year the MHSIBCA has issued team academic awards.

“The academic awards are not a surprise,” Lafnear added. “They are fine young people and I am truly honored to have them in our program. It is always a sad day to see seniors like these leave but I get excited to hear the things they accomplish as young adults.”
