Nine Candidates running for 3 school board seats

The candidate cup overfloweth when it comes to the Oxford Board of Education.

July 26 was the deadline to file for the three, four-year seats that will appear on the Nov. 8 general election ballot.

A total of nine candidates are running – and no, that’s not a misprint.

Candidates include Stacey Beane, Dan D’Alessandro, Tom Donnelly, Katherine East, Jennifer W. Guthrie, Bruce Meyers, Kallie Roesner, Heather Shafer and Rick Vandecar.

D’Alessandro, the current school board president, is the only incumbent running. Incumbents Carol Mitchell and Jim Reis are not seeking re-election.

Originally, there were 10 candidates, but Oxford resident SaraBeth Campagiorni withdrew from the race on July 29, according to the Oakland County Elections Division webpage.

Over the next three weeks, Leader reporter Elise Shire, who covers the school beat, will be writing stories introducing three candidates at a time in alphabetical order.
