Cops seek suspects in home invasion

An elderly Oxford woman came face-to-face with a burglary suspect in her home Saturday afternoon and now, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is searching for him and a suspected female accomplice who may have acted as a lookout.

The home invasion occurred on Seymour Lake Rd., near Sanders Rd., on Saturday, Nov. 5 shortly before 2 p.m.

One suspect is a white male believed to be in his mid-20s, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10, medium build with shorter black hair and possibly a beard. He was last seen wearing a navy blue short-sleeve t-shirt and blue jeans.

The other suspect is a white female believed to be in her mid-20s, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, thin build with blonde or lighter-colored hair. She was last seen wearing a bright yellow vest (sweater-type) and dark-colored pants.

According to the sheriff’s report, when the 81-year-old female homeowner returned home, she observed the white male suspect run towards her from the front bedroom on the first floor.

“As he ran past her, he said, ‘sorry,’ and ran out of the rear door,” the report stated.

The homeowner’s 57-year-old daughter, who was outside at the time, observed the suspect run toward Sanders Rd., then lost sight of him. She told deputies he was carrying either a black case or a large, black duffel bag.

Prior to the incident, both the homeowner and her daughter observed the white female suspect standing near Sanders Rd. and “thought it was strange she was there,” the report stated. She’s believed to be “a possible lookout.”

According to the report, the white male suspect broke a garage window and a door window in order to gain entry to the house.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects is asked to please call the sheriff’s Oxford substation at (248) 969-3077 or call 1-888-TURN-1-IN (887-6146).
