Crash, chase, cuffs

An 18-year-old man who allegedly collided with an Oakland County Sheriff’s patrol car Feb. 25 in Oxford Township and then fled the scene is facing a list of charges.
Andrew Michael Watson was charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding, failing to stop at the scene of a property damage accident, driving with a suspended/revoked license and giving false identification of a police officer.
The fleeing and eluding is a five-year felony, while the other three charges are all misdemeanors.
The crash occurred in the Lake Villa Manufactured Home Community at the intersection of Laurel Leah and Shummard Branch.
Watson allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection, resulting in a sheriff’s patrol car crashing into his vehicle.
The deputy attempted to avoid Watson’s vehicle, but could not, the report stated.
Following the crash, Watson allegedly fled the accident scene.
The deputy pursued him for approximately 0.4 mile until Watson turned down a dead end and was taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s report.
The deputy was transported to the hospital for treatment of neck and back pain.
Watson was arraigned in the Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court.
His bond was set at $2,500 and he’s scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary examination March 4.
According to the sheriff’s department, Watson has two outstanding warrants from the Sterling Heights Police Department.
Two for being a minor in possession of alcohol and one for possession of marijuana.
