DECA wins big at state competition

Oxford High School’s DECA students were big winners at the state competition in Dearborn March 11-13.
Of the 43 Oxford DECA students who entered, 25 were named finalists in the international competition in Anaheim, California April 27 through May 1.
OHS had the largest number of winners of any school in the written portion of the state competition.
All 43 Oxford DECA students received medals for high scores on their papers and presentations, again more than any other school present.
Finalists in the international competition are Grace Auchterlonie, Jamie Badia, Martin Ball, Jacob Boehmer, Timothy Bokovoy, Vanessa Collier, Brian Dial, Joel Falzarano, Christine Fortier, Joel Grifka, Bradley Grunewald, Shana Jones, Rachel Kenny, Jacob Krause, Brad Kubina, Chelsea McIntosh, Danyelle Parris, Jerred Pender, Katharine Rathburg, Lisa Reile, Mykala Salquist, Ashley Seeling, Katelyn Stanis, Heather Tiffany and Allison Zonsius.
‘I was real pleased,? said DECA Adviser Steve Ruch, noting this was the fourth consecutive year Oxford had the most winners in the state written portion, despite the increasing number of entries and stiff competition from other schools.
