Don’t cry for me, Clarkston

An 8-year-old little girl with a lot of potential joins the stage with the best of them at the Fisher Theater for the production of ‘Evita.?
Cassia Ward, with her father Scott and mother Teresa, moved to the Clarkston area about four years ago. She attends Bailey Lake Elementary and is recieving plenty of recognition from faculty and peers.
Cassia has been in the spotlight since the young age of 4. Starting out in a dance class at Deborah’s Stage Door in Rochester Hills, Cassia demonstrated she was meant for so much more.
Cassia’s interest for theater came when she participated in an acting class four years ago. Since then, she has had her share of success.
Cassia has done radio and television commercials including: Michigan.org, Click On Careers, a no smoking commercial and Comcast. On the theatrical side, she has acted in plays through her summer program such as ‘Honk,? ‘Annie? and ‘Peter Pan.? Now, she will experience the lights, the camera and the action that is the Fisher Theater.
‘I have done so many commercials and my acting teacher Stacy Cleaveland told me about the show,? said Cassia.
The Fisher Theater asked Cleaveland to get a group of children together for the play. Cassia was one of nine kids chosen to audition. After viewing the children and observing their performances, Cassia was chosen to be an alternate cast member. Evita is a traveling show, so the first real rehearsal will take place on opening night.
‘Their going to fit me, their going to rehearse me and then their going to throw me on stage,? Cassia said.
Cassia will be a part of the Children’s Choir and the group will be singing a song during the play. Cassia explained she was a little nervous about opening night on Nov. 30.
‘I have never been in this kind of play before,? she said. ‘I haven’t really done professional plays so this is my first big one.?
Cassia’s parents have always been behind their daughter and hope she enjoys whatever she is involved with.
‘I think it’s so much fun for her,? said Teresa. ‘Her participation has really helped her confidense and I am very proud of her.?
‘It’s amazing to watch her blossom over the years,? said Scott. ‘She amazes us every time she gets on stage.?
Scott also mentioned that if Cassia decided not to be involved in future acting then she wouldn’t be.
‘I think this is a really great thing for me to do,? said Cassia. ‘I want to say thank you to my mom, dad and Stacy, because they always support and cheer me on.?
Confident, well-mannered and bright; Cassia Ward is truly a diamond in the Clarkston rough.
