Golfers sought for firefighter outing

The Addison Township Firefighters Association (ATFA) will host its 5th annual golf event on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Myth Golf and Banquets in Oakland. Shotgun start is at 9 a.m.

The organization is seeking corporate and individual sponsors and/or donors for this event. Individuals/organizations that donate at least $200 towards ATFA will be named as a sponsor and will have their name posted next to one of the holes at the event.

According to Fire Chief Jerry Morawski, all proceeds will go towards charity efforts of the Addison Township Firefighters Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the betterment of its community.

“All donations are going right to the Addison Firefighters Association and then it’s going towards whatever good will project the Firefighters Association needs to do throughout the town and the community,” said Morawski.

Morawski said the organization regularly donates to nonprofit organizations, such as Rochester Area Neighborhood House, which helps lead people in times of hardship to self-sufficiency, and Blessings in a Backpack, which provides food to take home on the weekends to elementary school students– including those from Leonard and Lakeville.

“We’re raising money for the community, whatever needs come up. We also help out victims of house fires. At Christmastime we help out a lot of kids and the schools and things like that. We’re raising money so we’ll be able to help out people. I hope we can fill (the event) up, that’s for sure,” said Morawski.

Registration is $75 per person. Participating groups should consist of four players minimum. The event is limited to 120 golfers.

To register for the event, make a donation or for more information, call the Addison Township Fire Department at (248) 628-5600.
