Grapplers pin OAA Red title

The Oxford Wildcat wrestling team captured the OAA Red Division title Friday evening, scoring 272.0 team points.

The Wildcats sent all 13 wrestlers to the finals, which was a first in Head Coach Paul McDevitt’s storied career.

Sophomore Matthew Curtis (103), junior Sergio Borg (135), junior Ryan Miller (140), sophomore Caleb Tabert (145), sophomore Devin Trevino (160), sophomore Thomas Wandrie (170), and senior Byron Schlickenmeyer (215) brought home division titles.

Sophomore Liam Hilary (112), junior Dalton Myers (119), senior Jacob Call (125), senior Garrett Tyrell (130), sophomore Trent Myre (152), and senior Dallas Winkelman (189) took second place.

The Wildcats also placed first at a Feb. 1 wrestling meet against St. Mary’s Prep and De La Salle, where the team defeated St. Mary’s by a score of 52-29 and De La Salle by 48-23.

The team returns to action Feb. 9 at the MHSAA District meet to be held at OHS at 5 p.m.
