Starting of the season with an Oxford fist, the Wildcat wrestlers are back at it and aren’t messing around.

On Dec. 5, the wrestlers started their season off with a bang, earning back-to-back triumphs against Airport and John Glenn. The dual meet was a first for Oxford Athletics as the first half was held during school hours and was packed full of OHS students ready to cheer the team on.

In the first meet against Airport, the Wildcats decimated their competition 48-28. In the next, they narrowly overcame the No. 9 ranked John Glenn 32-31.

“After our initial dual we asked for a stronger collective effort,” Head Coach Ross Wingert told Oxford Athletics. “We finished the day with a more definitive purpose and at this point of the season that’s all we can ask for. This team is hungry and dangerous. Our staff is excited for the progress to be made.”

The Wildcats will be back on mats on tonight, Dec. 12 when they travel to Detroit Catholic Central.
