He’s the new guy!

There’s a new guy on the Oxford Township Planning Commission and his name is Jonathan Nold.

The 28-year resident was appointed last week, in a 5-0 vote by the township board, to fill the seat vacated by Todd Bell, who resigned March 2 due to the increasing demands of his professional life.

Nold, who lives on Tanview Drive, will serve the remainder of Bell’s three-year term, which expires on Dec. 31.

Supervisor Bill Dunn recommended him for the position because in previous dealings with the township, Nold was always “prepared.”

“I was impressed with how much knowledge he brings to whatever is in front of him,” Dunn said. “I think he’d be a great addition to the planning commission.”

Nold, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, owns and operates a company called J.C.N. Properties, LLC, which deals with both commercial and residential properties.

“I’m a remodeler,” he told this reporter. “I’m a jack-of-all-trades. I just help people.”

Nold also does consulting work and manages projects such as church expansions.

He said “it’s exciting to see Oxford grow,” but he wants to ensure there’s a “balance” between residential and commercial development.

Nold and his wife of 34 years, Kimberly, a 1978 Oxford High School graduate, enjoy everything the community has to offer, from their life on the Stringy Lakes to travelling the Polly Ann Trail.

The couple met while attending Rochester College and have four children ranging in age from 15 to 30.

Now that his family’s “grown up” and he has “some extra time” on his hands, Nold decided serving on the planning commission would be a good way “to give back to the community.”

To prepare for his new role, Nold has been watching previous planning commission meetings filmed by Oxford Community Television, reading meeting minutes and studying the township’s zoning ordinance.
