Keeping village water safe, clean for 25 years

The Oxford Village Council April 13 passed a special resolution honoring Water Plant Superintendent James Smith, who’s celebrating his 25th year of employment with the village. The special resolution reads as follows:
WHEREAS, in 1979, James Smith became a fulltime employee of the Village of Oxford, and
WHEREAS, during Jim’s employment with the Village he has become an integral part of the Village by unerringly maintaining, improving and monitoring the Village’s water system, and
WHEREAS, Jim has improved his expertise through continuing, as well as providing water quality education to the youth and general public of Oxford, and founding and sustaining the well-head protection program.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the Village of Oxford wishes to thank James Smith for his twenty-five years of service to the Village of Oxford, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Oxford Village Council recognizes James Smith’s commitment to the Village and his professionalism and dedication to the community, and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that on behalf of the residents of the Village of Oxford, the Oxford Village Council wishes to acknowledge Jim’s efforts to go over and above his required job to provide safe, quality water for the residents of the Village.
Following the resolution, Councilman Steve Allen added, ‘Jim Smith is as responsible for the quality of your life as anyone else in this community, even more so. He keeps the well water safe to the point of being anal retentive about it. And I appreciate it. He does a great job. He’s an unsung hero in the community.?
