Louise M. Sowles

Louise M. Sowles, of Attica and formerly of Leonard, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 after a brief illness, at the home of her nephew Wayne (Linda) Patterson in Attica, Michigan. She was 94.

Louise was born December 8, 1921 in Addison Township to Frank and Bertha Laurent) Sowles. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1940. She worked at the Michigan Mutual Insurance Company in Detroit, Michigan from 1945 until 1947. After that she worked at the National Twist Drill Company in Rochester, Michigan from 1947 until her retirement in 1982, a period of 34 years. She enjoyed her family, attending church and traveling. She especially enjoyed visiting with friends and family, spending time with the family dog, a black lab named Lucky.

Louise was a longtime member of the Leonard United Methodist Church. She was a long-term attendee of the annual Simpson Park Church Camp in the summer. Louise also, enjoyed joining the Muir’s at their annual Peach Festival Floral Parade bbq in September held at their funeral home in Romeo.

Louise is survived by her nephews Bruce (Virginia) Patterson of Attica, Wayne (Linda) Patterson of Attica; great-niece and nephews, David (Nikki) Patterson of Lake Orion, Nathan (Christina) Patterson of Attica, Rebecca (Nicholas) Cole of Lapeer, Steven (Cissie) Patterson of Oxford, great-great-nieces and nephews, Logan, Lucas and Ryleigh Cole of Lapeer, Steven and Kelly Patterson of Oxford. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Stewart Sowles and her sister and her brother-in-law Shirley and Dwight Patterson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of McLaren Hospice Service for the care and compassion they gave to our aunt.

The funeral service was held Oct. 24 at the funeral home with the Reverend Grant Lobb of Trinity Methodist Church in Lapeer, Michigan officiating. Burial was at Hough Cemetery (Hough Rd.-Almont.)
