Police: OHS student says BB gun photo ‘not meant to frighten anyone’

On April 18, a 16-year-old Oxford High School student allegedly posted on Snapchat a photo of himself holding up a gun with a caption that read “Don’t come to school next Monday.” He allegedly posted this the previous night at 10:30 p.m.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies visited the student’s home in Pontiac around 2 a.m. and were greeted by the boy’s mother. Deputies were given permission to search the home, and found no weapons.

The student allegedly told deputies he had taken the photo at his 16-year-old friend’s home, using his friend’s BB gun. According to the report, the boy told deputies the photo was meant to be a joke and “was not meant to frighten anyone.”

The student’s phone and his friend’s BB gun were taken as evidence and he was suspended. The incident remains under investigation.
