The OMS wrestling team set a new all-time scoring record and was the first team to have all 20 wrestlers place during the Oakland County wrestling tournament, held March 11 at Lake Orion High School.

With a score of 386, the team topped the all-time scoring record of 322.5, previously set by OMS wrestlers in 2015 and claimed the county championship.

Eleven OMS wrestlers reached the finals and five were crowned individual champions. Individual champions were Darren McLeod (100), Jack Thompson (115), Jack Wandrie (135), Ty Myre (140) and Drake Biggie (171).

“I continue to be amazed by this group of kids,” said Head Coach Jack Beall. “They are a very tight-knit group and when one of them has an off-day or tough loss, immediately the others jump in to encourage that particular kid. We also have many kids on this team that have simply put in the time and effort to be the best… (their) work ethic has raised the bar even higher for our program, which I was not sure was possible.”

The team continued their winning streak by taking first place at the Charger Invite March 18 and first place at The Eagle Invite, held at Stoney Creek High School on March 25.
