Oxford man appears on “Lets Make A Deal”

Deceased artist Andy Warhol once predicted that in the future, everyone was going to enjoy 15 minutes of fame.
Ryan Metzger already had his 15 minutes earlier this year and he’s about to enjoy another 15 minutes later this week.
Metro Detroit television viewers can tune in to WWJ (Channel 62) at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18 to watch the 33-year-old Oxford resident compete on the game show ‘Let’s Make A Deal,? hosted by Wayne Brady and taped at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The episode is a rerun of a show that originally aired in March, but was taped in January.
‘Overall, it was very exciting,? Metzger said. ‘It’s something I would not change for anything.?
Spoiler alert ? he wins a Yamaha V-Star Classic motorcycle valued at $6,590.
‘It’s awesome. I love it,? he said. ‘It’s very nice. It’s plush. It’s just a well-crafted machine. It rides nice (and) has good power. No complaints at all.?
Metzger and his wife of nearly four years, Eleanor, are frequent travelers to the city that mobster Bugsy Siegel built and the swinging Rat Pack put on the map.
‘We love Vegas,? he said. ‘We got married in Vegas. We got engaged in Vegas. We vacation in Vegas. We’re all about Vegas.?
When Metzger noticed ‘Let’s Make a Deal? was filmed in Sin City, he went on-line and snatched up some free tickets.
Wearing a jailbird costume, he was selected from the audience, along with two ladies, to decide whether he would take the cash offered by Brady or choose whatever secret prize was behind the curtain.
‘I’d never been on camera before so I was nervous,? he said. ‘I didn’t know what to expect.?
Metzger was offered up to $1,300 in cash, but he chose to gamble on what was behind the curtain.
Although it wasn’t really much of a gamble because he already knew what it was.
Each contestant is shown a magnified image depicting part of the hidden prize.
Metzger was shown an image of a nut that he knew was part of a motorcycle because riding is his hobby.
‘I knew exactly what it was as soon as I saw it,? he said. ‘There was no way I was going to not take the curtain.?
‘It was a giveaway to me,? Metzger added. ‘They shouldn’t have given me that picture.?
Upon viewing the clue on television when the episode originally aired, it wasn’t so apparent to him.
‘I looked at the picture on TV and went, ‘Wow, how did I find that?? It was much more vivid in person,? he said.
Metzger believes it was no accident that a motorcycle was behind his curtain. Prior to the taping, each audience member is briefly interviewed and he mentioned that he likes to ride.
‘I think they paired me up with the prize,? he said. ‘That’s the way I think I got picked.?
So, what did Metzger think of seeing himself on national television?
‘I didn’t look too bad,? he said. ‘I thought I was going to look worse than I did.?
Metzger’s wife keeps joking that he should try to get on ‘The Price is Right,? but he’s content to enjoy the fruits of his ‘beginner’s luck.?
‘It’s pretty much the luck of the draw,? he said.
According to a press release, one out of every 18 audience members will be a contestant on ‘Let’s Make A Deal.?
