Pedestrian killed jaywalking

A 51-year-old Oxford Village resident was killed Dec. 23 as she attempted to jaywalk across M-24, south of Market St., at night.
Karen Patricia Reynolds was pronounced dead at POH Regional Medical Center in Pontiac after she was struck by two vehicles around 5:41 p.m.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, Reynolds was crossing the southbound lanes of M-24, heading east to west, when she was struck by a 2000 Plymouth Voyager driven by a 50-year-old Oxford Township resident.
As she laid in the roadway, Reynolds was then struck by a southbound 2006 Kia Spectra driven by a 25-year-old Orion Township resident.
It was noted that the area in which the crash took place was ‘dark and unlit,? according to the sheriff’s department.
‘Mrs. Reynolds was wearing dark clothing and not crossing in a crosswalk,? the sheriff’s department stated.
Alcohol use does not appear to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
