Mozeid Muzayed Kaid was arraigned Friday in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court on charges of felonious assault and reckless driving. He was released from county jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred June 16.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, Kaid, who was subleasing 1031 S. Lapeer Rd. to operate a Mobil gas station there, became involved in a dispute with the property’s owner, a 58-year-old Lake Orion man.
The Lake Orion man told deputies he was in the process of evicting Kaid, who had sublet the property from another party, and went to the station to take photographs of the establishment’s condition.
Seeing this, Kaid “confronted him, yelling and screaming for him to leave,” the report stated. He accused the property owner of trespassing.
While the property owner was sitting inside his 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck, Kaid got in his 2012 Ford Mustang and allegedly drove into the truck. The report stated there was “no visible major damage” to the truck, but there were “obvious signs of contact.”
The Lake Orion man told deputies that after he exited his truck to check for damage, Kaid “revved” his Mustang’s engine and “drove directly towards” him, “almost hitting him with the car,” the report stated.
Kaid allegedly “tried to do the same thing” one more time before the property owner got back in his truck and called 9-1-1.
When deputies questioned him, Kaid denied attempting to hit the property owner with his vehicle.
On Aug. 9, five deputies, a sergeant and a lieutenant went to the gas station to execute an arrest warrant for Kaid. After obtaining a key from the property owner because Kaid “would not unlock the door,” according to the report, the suspect was arrested and taken to jail.
