Feb. 4: A 17-year-old boy from Oxford allegedly tried to take vodka from a business in the 900 block of N. Lapeer Rd. by pouring the liquid into an empty water bottle and concealing it. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the business at 3:32 p.m. after an employee allegedly witnessed the boy conceal the bottle and attempt to leave with it. The boy’s parents were called and he was issued a citation.

Feb. 4: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at at 10:18 a.m. to a business located in the 900 block of N. Lapeer Rd. after an employee found one door handle to be broken, a missing safe, and displaced drawers on the floor. Sheriff’s deputies observed damage to the floor and walls where the safe had been bolted. A report was filed and the incident is pending investigation.

Jan. 30: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a business in the 900 block of N. Lapeer Rd. at 8:53 p.m. after a 27-year-old woman from Ortonville allegedly attempted to steal over $900 worth of merchandise. According to an employee, the woman was observed placing various items underneath her coat within the cart before attempting to exit the store with them. When confronted by the employee, the woman allegedly moved the cart, dropping several items including her wallet and debit card before running out the door. The employee allegedly witnessed the woman and her 21-year-old fiance from Ortonville enter a vehicle and noted the plate number before calling 9-1-1. The woman allegedly called the store several times following the incident to inquire about the purse she had left and was advised to return to the store. One Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle as it was en route. The woman told Sheriff’s deputies she had believed her debit card had been in the car and that she had planned on returning to the store to purchase the items. The woman was transported back to the business, advised not to return, and was released pending investigation.

Jan. 31: Village police were called to a home located in the 50 block of E. Burdick St. at 1:11 p.m., where the caller stated a dog had charged at him and nipped at him, possibly in play, while he had been walking by. Police advised the dog’s owner.
