June 12: A 75-year-old Oxford woman walked into the Oakland County Sheriff’s substation in Oxford at 9:17 a.m. to report that she had received a suspicious phone call on June 3 at 2:30 p.m. The caller identified himself as “Nick White” from the “National Institute of Health” before telling the woman she was owed an individual grant worth more than $14,500. The caller asked the woman to send $200 to an address in Maryland to cover processing fees. After the woman provided her debit card number, the caller requested that the woman also purchase and send $200 worth of gift cards. A report was written and the woman was advised to contact her bank about the incident.

June 9: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a 19-year-old Ortonville woman at W. Drahner and Sanders roads after she allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic at 11:49 p.m. Deputies noted in the report that there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the woman’s car and she admitted to having smoked marijuana. A vehicle search yielded a black-and-white pipe with residue, which had been allegedly located in her purse. After the woman allegedly failed to complete several sobriety tests, she was arrested for operating while while under the influence of drugs and for posession of narcotic paraphernelia. The woman was transported to Oakland County Jail without incident.

June 8: A 92-year-old woman from Oxford Township was found unresponsive by Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies in her apartment, located in the 700 block of Market St., at 5:19 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found the woman sitting in a chair. Attempts at CPR were unsuccessful and she was prounounced dead at 5:37 p.m. It was noted in the report that the woman had suffered from several health issues.

June 8: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home located in the 20 block of W. Manor St., where a 59-year-old woman said her 62-year-old husband had allegedly slapped her on the face. The woman told sheriff’s deputies that she had been cooking dinner when her husband came into the kitchen after he had been drinking and demanded to know what she had done with his belt buckle before allegedly smacking her on the left side of her face. Deputies noted in the report that there were no obvious signs of injury. The woman told deputies she was concerned about her husband and that this was “not normal behavior” for him. When deputies later spoke with the man, he allegedly admitted to having a drinking problem and agreed to go to the hospital for evaluation. He was transported to Lapeer McClaren without incident.
