Stuart Colson Andress

Stuart Colson Andress, 81 of Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.

Born on March 4, 1935 in Metamora, he was the son of Carl and Alice (Colson) Andress.Andress, Stuart BW

Stuart grew up in Metamora and was a 1953 graduate of Lapeer High School. After attending trade school in Detroit for two years, he joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably for two years including a year in Germany. On August 9, 1957 Stuart married Loretta J. Scott while he was home on leave.

After returning home, Stuart worked for a couple of area factories and in his father’s grocery store in Metamora for a few years. In 1962 he joined Pontiac Motor Division as a pressman. Stuart and Loretta lived in Oxford where they raised their family. He retired from Pontiac in 1992 and in 1998 they moved from Oxford to Lewiston.

Stuart enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Loretta traveled extensively together. They enjoyed trips out west, especially to Utah, and houseboat trips on the Cumberland River.

He is survived by Loretta, his wife of 59 years; three daughters, Linda Andress (Craig Greening) Cote of Traverse City, Sharon Andress (Keith Eversole) O’dell of Lake Orion and Colleen (Garry) Miller of Oxford; grandchildren, Olivia Cote, Lori Anne (Dean) Brazelle, Thomas (Lindsey) Kinch, Colson (John Johnston) O’dell, Leticia Kinch, Nathan Kinch, Myranda (Nathan) Stadler, Corbin Eversole, Derrick Miller, Allison Miller and Courtney Miller; great grandchildren, Mallory, Carter, Julian and Abigail; a brother, Richard Andress of Lewiston and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lois Weingartz.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 PM at American Legion Post #108 in Oxford. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to Disabled American Veterans.
