Swim team scores first win of season

Oxford, an OAA White Division team, took their first win of the season over OAA Blue Division Hazel Park at a cross-over meet Jan. 12, with a final score of 141-37.

Oxford is now 1-3 on the overall season.

“As expected, Oxford dominated in the pool. The focus of the night was to see how the hard work over the past three weeks since the last dual meet has paid off. We saw many time drops over the course of the evening,” said Head Coach Jackie Rank.

The results were as follows:

In the 200 Medley Relay:Oxford’s A Relay of Senior Lucas Sereno, Michael Scepka, junior Garrett Warren and junior Captain Brandon Powers took first with a time of 1:49.26. Oxford’s B Relay of Alex Olheiser, senior Jonah Grove, Bradlee Weltyk and Gage Warzecha finished second.

In the 200 Freestyle, Warren touched first with a time of 1:56.90. Travis Butler and Trenton Sabo rounded out the top three spots.

In the 200 Individual Medley, freshman Carter Pollard finished first with a time of 2:22.60. Grove and Weltyk took second and third respectively.

In the 50 Freestyle, Powers came in first with a time of 23.52. Scepka finished second and Lochlan Palmrose touched fourth for Oxford.

In the diving portion, junior Mitchell Mulligan took first with a score of 192.45. Max Jenson claimed second place points for Oxford.

In the 100 Butterfly, Sereno touched first with a time of 1:01.75. Sabo and Olheiser rounded out the top three spots.

In the 100 Freestyle, Pollard finished first for the second time of the night with a time of 53.95. Weltyk took third and Thomas Giberson took fourth.

In the 500 Freestyle, Powers came in first for the second time of the night with a time of 5:17.84.

In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of Pollard, Grove, Sabo, and Scepka touched first with a time of 1:42.30. Oxford’s B Relay of Giberson, Warzecha, Cameron Mumbrue and Mulligan finished third.

In the 100 Backstroke, Garrett Warren claimed his second first place finish of the night with a time of 58.10. Sereno and Olheiser rounded out the top three spots.

In the 100 Breaststroke, Grove took first with a time of 1:16.34. Giberson and Mario Scribner touched fourth and fifth respectively.

In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of Butler, Pollard, Warren and Powers came in first with a time of 3:46.58. Oxford’s B Relay of Sabo, Weltyk, Olheiser and Sereno finished in second place.

Next Thursday, January 19th at 6 p.m., Oxford will host West Bloomfield in their fifth dual meet of the season.
