Thelma Lucas

Thelma May Lucas, of North Branch, Michigan, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her home. She was 92.

Lucas was born July 13, 1924 in Danville, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and the late Edith (Ritter) Stewart.

She grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School. She married Samuel Lucas on Sept. 28, 1963 in Oxford, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 20, 1993. Thelma was a home maker.

She is survived by her good friends and caregivers: John and Loretta Thurlow of North Branch, MI; nieces nd nephews: Carol (Tom) Bindig of Lapeer, MI, Jill Bradshaw of North Branch, MI, Sharolyn Humphries of Birmingham, England, and Greg Stewart of Lapeer; and her sister-in-law: Phyllis Lucas. Also surviving are several great-nieces and great-nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; sisters Laverne Price and Louise Loughren; and brothers, Lawrence Stewart and Clyde Stewart.

Interment and graveside services took place Friday, June 9, 2017 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Lapeer, MI. Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Please be sure to sign our online register muirbrothersfh.com.
