Trail seeks horseback riders for ‘Saddle Up and Ride On’ event

The Polly Ann Trail (PAT) Management Council is proud to announce the “Saddle Up and Ride On” trail ride for horseback riders.

It is the goal of the Council to have a variety of events for trail users and bring the community together.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17 starting at 9:15 a.m.

Other activities for riders and non-riders during the day is line dancing and a special trail lunch.

The event day schedule is as follows:

8:30 to 9:15 a.m. is registration.

• 9:15 a.m. to noon – Trail ride from the Leonard Trail Head towards Oxford.

• Noon to 1:30 p.m. – Line dancing and chuck wagon lunch.

• 1:30 p.m. – Awards will be presented.

Those participating in the trail ride will travel approximately 5 miles down towards Oxford, passing travelers along the way who are carrying PAT bags with clues to a treasure.

Your goal is to collect all the clues, piece them together and figure out the treasure.

Upon returning to the Leonard trail you will report to the registration table with the results of your travels and treasure search. Once your horse is secure join in the rest of the festivities of line dancing and a chuck wagon lunch.

Cost for riders is $28. Includes lunch, organized ride, line dancing, prizes, and gifts

To register (maximum of 35 participants), contact the trail manager with your name, horse’s name, phone number. Email information to patmctm@gmail.com. Family Maximum is $75. Upon registration, folks will receive details about the ride such as water for horses, start time(staggered), parking arrangements.

Those without a horse are still welcome to come and enjoy line dancing and a chuck wagon lunch.

Cost is $15. Includes lunch, line dancing, participation gift

Registration deadline is Monday, September 12th, 2016. Checks can be sent to P.O. Box 112 Leonard, MI. Makes check payable to Polly Ann Trail Council.

All proceeds go towards improvements of the Polly Ann Trail in Oakland County.
