My “fixed income” daughter’s water rate has doubled in less than a year ($60 to $120) and now, she has a meter, but still pays through the park (Lake Villa Manufactured Home Community)? It seems like the township and the park have been negotiating without concern for the park citizens.
Editor’s Note: Water bills in Lake Villa increased because last year, the residents there started paying the debt service charge that Oxford Township water customers have been required to pay since $10.7 million in bonds were issued in 2005 for improvements to the municipal water system.
At the Sept. 13, 2017 township board meeting, officials voted 6-1 to begin assessing Lake Villa the debt service charge. That decision was reported in the Sept. 20, 2017 issue of the Leader in the article, Lake Villa to begin paying water debt, but not all at once.
