Wildcat baseball team throws out Rochester

Oxford stole the lead late and defeated Rochester 6-5 on April 25.

The game was tied at five with The Wildcats batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for Oxford.

Rochester scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Oxford still managed to pull out the victory.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Oxford tied things up at five when Gage Warzecha singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Michael Scepka earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for The Cats. He lasted three innings, allowing three hits and zero runs.

Drew Carpenter threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Carpenter recorded the last two outs to earn his first varsity save.

Connor Romine started the game. He allowed six hits and five runs over three and a-third innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Jack Smalley went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the offense.

On Wednesday, May 2, the Cats will face Stoney Creek on the home field at 4:30 p.m.
