Wildcat batters fall to LO in district game

Oxford’s varsity baseball team’s season came to an end at the hands of Lake Orion with a 5-4 loss in the MHSAA districts held June 3.

The Dragons scored two runs in the 4th and three in the 5th.

The Cats responded scoring four in the 6th and had chances to score in the 7th but were unable to cash in on the opportunities.

The offense was lead by senior Ben Gingell 3 for 3, two RBI, one run scored, and Braun Mayette, 2 for 3, one run scored and a base on balls. Ben Gingell went four solid innings but took the loss in the game.

The team’s loss came at the heels of a 16-5 win against North Farmington, June 1.

The Cats batted 18 hits that day.

Gage Warzecha, Anthony D’Alessandro, Ben Gingell, Cameron Goike, Jack Smalley, and Josh Allen all collected two hits.

Shae Walters, D’Alessandro, and Warzecha each had a triple in the game.

Three Wildcat hitters had multiple RBI’s, Warzecha (3), Brandon Barrow (2), and D’Alessandro (2).

Jack Kitchner picked up his fourth win of the season on the mound.

The team ended the season with a 21-17 overall and 9-6 conference record.
