X-country runners compete at festival

Oxford’s men’s and women’s cross country runners finished in the middle of the pack during the 51st Annual Holly/Duane Raffin Festival of Races Sept. 15.

The Wildcats ran against a slew of teams, including Lake Orion, Plymouth, Romeo and White Lake. Oxford competed in the men’s and women’s D1 5,000-meter races.

For the men, Oxford’s top runners were junior John “JJ” Bagans, who finished 18th with a time of 17:09.3. Senior Hunter Green finished 23rd for the Wildcats with a time of 17:27.6.

As for the ladies, junior Madeline Lukens was the first Wildcat to finish the race, coming in 29th, and ran a time of 21:00.3. Not far behind Lukens, senior Kerstin Hufstedler came in 32nd with a time of 21:03.8.

Wildcat cross country will race again during the Old Skool Classic at Wolcott Farm, where the team will again compete in D1 5,000-meter race.
