CreekFest Poetry entries due May1

Ortonville- Entries are now being accepted for the Ortonville DDA’s – Main Street 2nd Annual CreekFest Poetry Contest, in participation with the State of Michigan’s River Day Observance.
CreekFest is a festival celebrating Michigan waterways and promoting their conservation. Thematic content in poetry pieces will be favored but is not mandatory.
Each entry must include two individual copies of work. A separate sheet of paper must be included with each entry, noting the writer’s name, birthdate and title of work. A self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included with each entry. Do not note author on actual work. Any entries not meeting these requirements will be disqualified.
All entries must be post-marked no later than May 1. Walk-in submissions must be turned in no later than 4:30 p.m., May 1, at the Village Offices, 476 Mill St.
Prizes will be given in two categories? 14 and under and 15 and above. Prizes for younger contestants include a $100 savings bond for first place; $50 savings bond for second place; $25 savings bond for third place and two honorable mentions. In the older category, awards are $150 cash for first; $100 cash for second; $50 cash for third and two honorable mentions.
Finalists must be present at CreekFest, June 9 in the village, to win. Submissions should be sent to the Village offices, 476 Mill St., P.O. Box 928, Ortonville, MI 48462.
