Ortonville- The Old Mill is getting a facelift.
Planned repairs and painting of the Old Mill’s exterior began on Tuesday with pressure washing of the historic building. The project is expected to take about two weeks
The exterior finish of the museum and historic landmark is currently marred by cracked and peeling paint that will soon be a thing of the past.
The village council approved awarding a contract for repairs and new painting of the mill to Clarkston-based Gutierrez Painting. The contract is for $22,354 and the Downtown Development Authority appropriated $20,000 for the job, with the village to pay the remaining $2,354.
The Mill was painted several years ago using township Community Development Block Grant funds and because the paint did not last through the warranty period, the village has white paint from Sherwin-Williams for use on the Mann Schoolhouse as well.
