According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by a 39-year-old Romeo man, was headed east on E. Romeo Rd. and passing slower traffic in a marked, no-passing zone.

As the Silverado attempted to pass a second vehicle, it crossed the double-yellow line and struck Haack’s westbound 2003 Chevrolet Blazer head-on, authorities reported. Both vehicles were overturned.

“I’ve been doing this for 23 years and it was definitely the worst accident I’ve seen,” said Addison Fire Chief Jerry Morawski.

Haack was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Romeo man was transported to McLaren-Oakland hospital in Pontiac with serious injuries.

According to her Facebook page, Haack was a server at TGI Fridays in Troy and a 2009 graduate of East Detroit High School.

The Michigan State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident.
