The Addison Township Public Library will host an evening with local author Catherine Ulrich Brakefield. The author of the inspirational historical romance Wilted Dandelions and her four-book Destiny Series will be at the Addison Township Public Library (1400 Rochester Rd.) in Lakeville on Thursday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. for a book talk and signing.

Brakefield’s new book, “Waltz with Destiny,” the fourth book of a four-book series, follows the Ben McConnell legacy. The novel begins in August 1941. Esther Meir and her mother struggle to make ends meet. The big band era and the influence of the age have Esther Meir’s head in a whirl as Hitler wages war with Europe.

“Waltz with Destiny” is being released on June 6 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Allies’ invasion of Europe.

The author will share a 40-minute presentation consisting of pictures and memorabilia of her dad’s war years as a rifleman in the 34th Red Bull Division. Learn eye-witness accounts about D-Day, Cassino invasion, Anzio and what an infantryman endured traveling up the boot of Italy during World War II.

Brakefield will have copies of “Waltz with Destiny” available for purchase and signing at the event. Copies cost $17.99.

This is a free program and is open to all ages. Registration is encouraged.
