Leonard resident Bill Vernier died on November 8, 2016 at the age of 74.Vernier obit

Bill is survived by his loving, dedicated wife of 48 years, Carol, and their three children Aimee (Ken) Althouse of Howell, Bill (Rena) Vernier III of Farmington Hills, and Lori Vernier of Leonard; his five amazing grandchildren Nathaniel, Ben, William IV, Rosemary and Cooper; and by his youngest brother Paul (Ruth) Vernier.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother.

Bill was born May 25, 1942 in Detroit. He was the son of William and Rosemary Vernier. He grew up in Lakeville and graduated from Oxford High School in 1960.

He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After returning home, Bill worked 40 years in the automotive industry and was National Accounts Sales Manager of Sachs North America.

He enjoyed model rocketry, stamp collecting, fishing, photography, cooking and spending time with his family.

He was very active in the North Oakland Elks and American Legion Post 108 as well as the AmVets. He loved talking with friends and would be available to help anyone or give lots of advice.

He also enjoyed repairing computers and distributing them to people in need.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 12 at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #108 “Distressed Veterans Fund.”
