Booters beat Berkley, Clarkston

Improving their record to 4-2-1 this week, Oxford’s ladies soccer team conquered Berkley and Clarkston.

Most recently, the ladies beat Clarkston 4-3 in a thriller on April 25. Down at two different points throughout the match, the Wildcats came back twice to add to their winning record.

Sophomore Mackenzie Methner led the offense with two goals. Other scorers were freshmen Ava Ketter and Payton Fitzpatrick.

The day before, on April 24, the ladies nearly shutout the Berkley Bears in a 5-1 game. Junior Alyssa Kessler got Oxford started in the first half with a goal. Junior Lauren Methner followed that up with a goal off an assist from Kessler, and freshman Carly Boyd closed off the half with a goal after being assisted by Ketter.

Oxford hammered Berkley with two more goals in the second half. Fitzpatrick and Mackenzie Methner both made goals and sophomore Mackenzie Carter and junior Caitlyn Hopman got the assists.

Though the Wildcats were up 5-0 in the final minutes, Berkley made a goal to end the game 5-1.

Oxford will be back on the field on May 2 when the team travels to Farmington.
