Booters capture first league win

Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Larry Ferris was very happy with how well his team played last week as they were able to capture their first Flint Metro League victory of the season against Clio on Monday, April 19.
According to Ferris, the girls dominated the game against Clio, beating them 3-2 to earn their first league victory.
Ferris stated that if it wasn’t for their goalie, junior Sarah Stroope battling bruised ribs, the Wildcats would have won 3-0. ‘She was hurt and those two wouldn’t have gone in if she was at full strength.?
Junior Beth Downs scored two goals for Oxford while sophomore Chelsea Johnson added the third goal.
‘That was a game we should (have won),? Ferris said.
In their second game of the week against Royal Oak on Friday, April 23, the girls fell behind 1-0 in the first few minutes of the game and could never get the equalizer in their 1-0 loss.
‘The only thing that would make me happier was to win the game or tie it,? said Ferris. ‘But, I think with my injury situation, going up against a OAA team like Royal Oak, I think we did very well.?
The girls are currently 1-1 in the Flint Metro League and play at home against Bloomfield Hills on Thursday, April 29 at 6:45 p.m. at OES.
