A car owned by a Lake Orion woman rolled into Oxford Lake, according to a report filed by Oxford Village Police.
Occurring around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, the owner failed to put the car in parking before exiting the car. The car rolled off the driveway and down a hill, going through a garden and hitting several posts before rolling into the lake. The car floated for some time before sinking into Oxford Lake. The owner tried to stop the car, receiving minor injuries from the attempt. The owner declined treatment for her injuries.
Two towing companies were called to remove the car from the lake, a process that went into the night due to workers requiring scuba gear to bring the car back up. Police notified the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of the incident and of possible contaminant leakage from the car.
