The Wildcats were still tied 4-4 with the Clarkston Wolves 10 innings into their game on April 22. Then senior Joe Good stepped up to the plate and gave his team one of those rare, satisfying walk-off wins.

Good hit a double at the bottom of the tenth to send junior Garett Hiler to home base, putting Oxford up 5-4.

Even though Good made the play of the game, Head Coach Dave Herrick said junior Drew Carpenter was the team’s key player of the night from the pitcher’s mound. Over three innings, he struck out five and walked one while allowing just one hit and one run.

Senior starting pitcher Evan Brunning also put in the work while starting the game. He pitched for nearly five innings and struck out seven Wolves along the way.

On the offensive end, Oxford was led by Hiler and junior Tanner Stokes, who both made three hits apiece. The Wildcats made 11 hits throughout the game.

The boys are now 3-3 overall. They will play Clarkston again on April 25 on the road.
