Cats end season with loss to Chippewa Valley

The fates were not on the Oxford High School varsity football team’s side this year. Last Friday they ended their 2022 season with a 34-14 loss to non-conference opponent Chippewa Valley. The loss dropped the Wildcats record to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in the OAA Red. Chippewa Valley improved their record to 7-2 overall.

The Big Reds took a 20-0 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Senior running back Cameron Jarrett put Oxford on the scoreboard with a 30-yard scamper, to make the score 20-6. Junior Jay Cady added the extra point, the last points of the quarter.

With 12 minutes left in the game, Chippewa Valley pushed their lead to 27-7. They scored again about seven minutes later, making the score 34-7.

With under a minute left, Wildcat Junior quarterback Benjamin Bruski connected on a four-yard pass to senior running back Logan Marshall. Cady ended all scoring by making the extra point.
