With one match to go the Oxford Wildcat bowling teams are closing in on another OAA Red Division sweep. Both the boys and girls teams took care of the Lake Orion Dragons Monday (Feb. 14) night at Collier Lanes. It was also Senior night for both teams.
The boys swept both baker games and cruised to a 27 to 3 victory. The Wildcats got solid bowling from the entire team. Jason Paslean shot a 202 and 182 to score 2 points for the Cat’s. Other bowlers scoring points were Tommy Mace 236, Jake Love 208, Blake Denning 223, and Preston Cupler 211.
The team is now 10-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the OAA. The only thing standing in the way of their 9th OAA title in a row is Avondale. Those two teams will start rolling Thursday night at Collier Lanes.

The girl’s match was much closer. The girls split baker games and Oxford came out with a 6 to 4 lead. The Wildcat won Game 1 by a 109 pins. Leading the Wildcats was Tessa Bonk with a 200. Macey Strevel 179, Kiley Penzien 161 and Ashley Bales 146 all took points in the game victory. Game 2 Bales 175 and Bonk would win and that was all the Wildcats needed to win the match 22 to 8.
The win keeps the team undefeated this year in the OAA and needing only a victory Thursday to win the 2022 crown. The girls are 6-1 overall this season.
“The girls bowled strong tonight as did the boys. We have a lot of bowling to go this season but both teams are positioned well for OAA Titles,” Wildcats bowling coach Claude “Jr.” Lafnear said. “We still want to make some noise at the OAA team event and Regionals, too.”
