Exam set for father, stepson accused of rape

A 70-year-old Oxford Township man and his 45-year-old stepson, both of whom are accused of sexually assaulting a female child under the age of 13, are due back in court next week.

Larry Erlin Orr, who resides on Teelin Dr., just west of M-24, and Sean Michael MacMaster, a police officer who lives in Jacksonville, Florida, are scheduled for a preliminary exam before Judge Nancy Carniak on Monday, Sept. 16 in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court.

Orr and MacMaster, an officer with the Duval County School Police Department, are each charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child.

The alleged assaults occurred between July 2011 and January 2016, according to warrants issued on May 7. If convicted, they face prison terms ranging from 25 years, the mandatory minimum, to life.

Both men are being held in Oakland County Jail in lieu of posting $250,000 cash/surety bonds.

On March 9, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office and Michigan State Police executed a search warrant at Orr’s home. The AG office indicated it yielded “significant physical evidence consistent with the child victim’s descriptions of the sexual assaults.”

Orr was arrested in May. MacMaster was arrested that same month, but wasn’t extradited to Michigan for arraignment until June.

According to the May 7 warrant for Orr, he was previously convicted of one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct on June 11, 2010.
