Financial-backers sought for film

If you’ve ever wanted to invest in a feature film or dreamed of seeing your name rolling across the silver screen as part of a movie’s credits, then answer the door because opportunity is knocking.
Nathan Bunker, a 2002 Oxford High School graduate, and his California-based company, Original 3 Productions, are seeking investors and contributors for the feature film they’re producing entitled ‘The New Republic.?
Those looking to become a part of independent cinema history are encouraged to visit www.fundo3.com to learn more about the film, its makers and how to help finance it.
‘If 2,000 people gave $20 each, we would reach our goal of $40,000, so even the smallest contribution helps,? according to the website.
Each contributor will receive a film credit in ‘The New Republic,? so they’ll literally become part of the movie.
Those who give $1,000 or more will be credited as an official investor and qualify for a return on their investment based on the film’s success, which could be considerable if it’s marketed for DVD distribution in foreign countries.
‘One hundred percent of the money donated will go straight to film production,? Bunker said.
Bunker and his partners created this website in response to a July 22 article the Leader published about him, his production company and the projects they’re working on.
Bunker indicated an ‘overwhelming amount of people? contacted him in response to the article and expressed an interest in the movie and his career.
‘One thing people have been asking is how they can be a part of the movie process,? he said. ‘Many people from Oxford have become interested in what we are doing and have shown (an) interest in wanting to help the film.?
Bunker and his partners thought the website would be a good avenue to allow those folks to share in their dream and help raise some capital since ‘the movie industry is a little dry? in the funding area right now.
‘We thought this was a good way to get everyone involved,? he said. ‘The people of Oxford have been so supportive so far and we want to give them a chance to be a part of the film.?
Set in the year 2025, ‘The New Republic? follows the career of David, a political propagandist who gets expelled from college for distributing narcotics. He’s placed on probation and finds himself living in New Angeles, one of the most impoverished sections of Los Angeles.
A political group called The Nationalists recruit David to oversee their underground literature department. When the National Defense Agency discovers this, they blackmail him to spy on the Nationalists? plans.
Little by little a dangerous plot begins to unfold and David’s true affiliations are put to the test.
‘The New Republic? is scheduled to be complete in time for the 2011 film festival circuit.
