Fireworks

Independence Township approved a bid from Zambelli Fireworks of Pennsylvania for $12,000 in fireworks for the July 4 celebration. A rain date for the show is July 5.
In a letter to the township, Zambelli said the company hosts many events from the Times Square New Years Eve Celebration in New York, Kentucky Derby and numerous city and fire department events across the country. The bid was awarded to Zambelli for both the 2014 and 2015 season. The fireworks show will kick off at 10:05 p.m. on July 4 or July 5 if it rains and will be 30 minutes long.

Ortonville- The village council approved by a 6-1 vote at their May 14 meeting a $200 donation to the Chamber of Commerce, to be used for the July 3 fireworks show.
Mary Kassuba, who suggested a $1,000 donation be made, dissented.
The Chamber of Commerce needs $8,000 to have Wolverine Fireworks put on a 40-minute show. The most recent tally of funds for the fireworks was $5,000, the minimum needed to have a 20-minute show.

Brandon Twp.? The board approved a four-year contract for Wolverine Fireworks to do the township’s fireworks display at a cost of $8,000 per year. This year’s fireworks display is scheduled for July 2.
Brandon Twp.? The board will vote on a revised disorderly conduct ordinance at their next meeting, 7:30 p.m., March 21.
