After the Oakland County swim and dive meets on Feb. 1 and 2, freshman Carson Wolf is heading to the state championships and Head Coach Jackie Rank is hoping to send a few more athletes with him. At the meet, the Wildcats placed 15th overall and earned 52 points.

In the 200 Medley Relay, Wolf, Zach Beatty, Ben Datsko and Carter Pollard took 12th in the county and swam a season-best time of 1:42.37. Later, Pollard, Beatty, Wolf and Cole Bukoski took 12th in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:24.96.

Individually, Beatty took two 10th place finishes. He swam 1:48.59 in the 200 Freestyle and 4:57.10 in the 500 Freestyle.

Wolf took the team’s best finish of the day when he grabbed ninth in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:00.29. The race also broke the school record, which Wolf has set twice this season as a freshman.

Datsko also finished the day well with an individual finish of 12th place in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.74.

The Wildcats will be back at it on Feb. 7 at home against Stoney Creek, which will also be senior night. With the month they have left, the boys will be trying to get more athletes at the state championships.

“Our plan for the next few weeks is to continue training hard while fine-tuning technique,” Rank said. “We have our sights set on a few more broken school records and state cuts.”
