George Polovich, 75

 George Gregory Polovich, 75, of Oxford, MI, passed away May 5, 2022. He was born on August 7, 1946 at Smiths Creek, MI. Dear son of the late Margaret and Matthew Polovich of Oxford; brother of Judy Allardice of Aiken, S.C. and Philip (Irina) Polovich of North Port, Fl; loving uncle of Erin (Timothy) Franklin of Lake Orion, also survived by his grandnephew Cayde, step-nephew’s Kirill and Maxim Koval, and many cousins.

Mr Polovich graduated from Oxford High School in 1964. He briefly attended G.M.I. and O.C.C. In 1968 he hired into the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors. Through educational leaves and lay-offs he also attended Ferris State University, majoring in Education. He also joined Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In 1998 George retired after 30 years of employment at Pontiac Motors, where he had become a Journeyman Electrician.

As a lifelong Oxford resident George worked many years supporting Oxford Wildcat athletics as a scorer for the Oxford Women’s Basketball team, a timer for track meets, and as a substitute teacher at Oxford High School.
A memorial service will take place at Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors Bossardet Chapel, 39 Burdick St, Oxford on Saturday, June 18, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please make any donations to the Oxford Wildcat Boosters.
