Oxford High School hosted their homecoming celebration last week, culminating with the homecoming parade, court and football game on Friday, Sept. 24.
The parade started around 5:30 p.m., the marching band leading the procession around the high school and onto Oxford Rd. High schoolers built parade floats around a “Big City Life” theme while groups representing district schools, OHS sports programs, the homecoming court and other local notables marched and rode along.
Festivities were put on hold until halftime when the homecoming court was introduced at center field. High school students voted their court in over the week, and seniors Gavin Green and Claire Spindler were crowned the 2021 homecoming king and queen. Reigning regals Trent Brown and Jordan Hung returned to crown their successors.
The homecoming court by grade are as follows:
Freshmen: Abby Jones and Liam O’Neill.
Sophomores: Lilan Haden and Brody Moore.
Juniors: Emma DeFauw and Ethan O’Dowd, Caitlyn Byrnes and Brody Burnes.
Seniors: Gavin Green and Claire Spindler (king and queen), Carly Boyd and Tony Hatzengeorgiou, Brady Lindamood and Marie LaFond, Brianna Barrows and Gavin Marsden.
