Kindergarten registration begins Feb. 1

The Oxford school district will hold kindergarten and developmental kindergarten (DK) registration for the 2018-19 school year beginning on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Oxford Schools offers a free full-day kindergarten program at all of its elementary schools.

A child whose fifth birthday falls on or before Sept. 1, 2018 is eligible to enroll in kindergarten in 2018. A child whose fifth birthday falls between Sept. 2, 2018 and Dec. 1, 2017 is eligible to enroll in DK.

To expedite the registration process, Central Enrollment Specialist Kathy Rastigue said families are encouraged to begin the registration process online at oxfordschools.org, although parents or guardians will still need to make an appointment with student services and visit the Board of Education office (10 N. Washington) in downtown Oxford to present the documentation listed below and sign documents to complete their student’s registration.

Parents or legal guardians must provide the following information to complete the enrollment process:

• Proof of residency, including current mortgage statement or property tax statement or current lease

• Child’s immunization records

• Health appraisal

• Child must undergo a vision test

Parents and guardians must also provide a valid driver’s license.

The district’s kindergarten elementary schools include Clear Lake Elementary (2085 W. Drahner Rd.), Daniel Axford Elementary (74 Mechanic St.), Lakeville Elementary (1400 Lakeville Rd.) and Leonard Elementary (335 E. Elmwood St.)

Students are placed at their home school based on residency boundaries.
