Lady golfers edge out Raiders, finished 8th in county tourney

Oxford’s girls golf team was able to narrowly edge out North Farmington, 204-205, in their first league dual of the season on Aug. 27.

Taking place at Glen Oaks Country Club in Farmington Hills, junior and team captain Janelle Grech was the team’s lowest-scorer with a 49.

The Lady Wildcats had to quickly move on from this victory as they competed in the Division II Oakland County Tournament at the Links at Crystal Lake the very next day, Aug. 28.

Finishing eighth among 17 schools, the Lady Wildcats combined to shoot 379.

The Troy Colts won the tournament with a 322. Bloomfield Hills-Cranbrook was the runner-up with a 338.

Oxford will next be in action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 when they face another OAA White opponent, Troy Athens, in their second league dual of the season at the Sanctuary Lake Golf Club.
