Middle of the road
At 8:20 p.m. on September 23, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies observed a black 2003 Audi A4 traveling 54 miles per hour in a construction zone on S. Lapeer Road, where the current speed limit is 30 MPH.
Initiating a traffic stop, the driver, identified as a 39-year-old Leonard man, stopped in the middle of E. Drahner Road to inform deputies his windows did not work. Deputies had him pull into the American Legion parking lot to continue the stop.
The man initially denied consuming any alcohol, but deputies could smell the odor of intoxicants coming from his vehicle.
According to reports, he successfully completed one field sobriety test but struggled through a few others, resulting in him being asked to submit to a preliminary breath test (PBT). At this time, he admitted to having two shots of liquor and “a couple” of tall beers over the previous two hours.
The PBT registered .11, nearly one-and-a-half times the legal limit in the state of Michigan. He was taken to the Oakland County Jail, where he was lodged on his operating while intoxicated (OWI) charge until his release time.

Time to leave
Oxford Village Police officers were dispatched to the Dennison Street apartments for a domestic eviction issue on September 16 at 6:58 a.m.
The caller, a 36-year-old man, had been trying to have his 31-year-old girlfriend move out.
According to reports, the couple has lived in Michigan for four months and have been dating since 2017. Officers had been out to the apartment the day prior.
The man produced a video of the morning’s events, which showed him waking his girlfriend up and telling her he had bought her plane tickets and “it was time to leave.”
The reports state, the girlfriend threw some cords on the ground of the bedroom at him. She then went to the couple’s knife drawer, only to realize the man had removed them earlier. The girlfriend pulled out a spatula and made several attempts to strike the man with it. She then tried to hit him with a small stool in the residence, which the boyfriend caught with his left hand.
Repoprts state the woman first denied anything happening that morning. When officers pressed the issue, she admitted to trying to hit her boyfriend, both with the spatula and stool.
Placed under arrest for domestic violence, the woman was transported to the Oakland County Jail without issue.
